Police have launched a murder investigation after 86-year-old Una Crown was found stabbed in her bungalow in Wisbech. On Sunday, 13 January 2013, family members and a neighbour discovered her lifeless body at her home on Magazine Lane. Una was last seen alive on Friday, 11 January, and had spoken on the phone the evening before her body was found.

Her clothing had been deliberately set on fire in an apparent attempt to conceal evidence. Fortunately, the fire extinguished itself and did not spread to the rest of the bungalow. Initial reports treated the death as unexplained, but a post-mortem examination confirmed she died from stab wounds to her neck and chest.

Crimestoppers has offered a £20,000 reward for information leading to justice in this case. Annabelle Goodenough, Crimestoppers South East Regional Manager, stated: “This is a truly awful, shocking and sad case. Our thoughts are very much with Una’s family and friends who remain desperate for answers and justice. We believe people know more than they’re saying. Crimestoppers offers a completely anonymous way to speak up with no risk. You won’t be asked for personal details, and calls can’t be traced. If you know anything, no matter how small, it could lead to justice — and there’s a reward of up to £20,000. Contact Crimestoppers 24/7 on freephone 0800 555 111 or submit an anonymous online tip.”

Detective Chief Inspector Iain Moor from the Major Crime Unit covering Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire added: “A decade on, Una Crown’s killer remains at large. We’ve tried everything, including a Crimewatch appeal and a sizeable reward, but the breakthrough hasn’t come. We’re turning the spotlight back on the community. Someone out there holds the answer. Please come forward—even the smallest clue could be vital.”

Crimestoppers guarantees complete anonymity: no personal information is collected, calls are not recorded, and IP addresses remain untracked. To claim the £20,000 reward, individuals should contact Crimestoppers directly—not the police—and request a reward code. When using the anonymous online form, select the ‘keeping in contact’ option, log back in after 24 hours to receive the code, and check again after two months for updates.
