Teen Stabbed in Thamesmead: Police Launch Urgent Probe
A 17-year-old boy was rushed to hospital after a stabbing in Thamesmead today. The shocking attack took place on Southmere Drive at 12:35pm on March 13.
Emergency Services Rush to Scene
Metropolitan Police officers, London Ambulance Service, and a trauma team from London’s Air Ambulance swiftly responded to the distress call. The victim was treated on site before being taken to hospital where his injuries were confirmed as non-life-threatening.
Violence Strikes Twice in Minutes
Just five minutes earlier, at 12:30pm, another violent incident unfolded nearby. A man was found unharmed after an assault involving a gang wielding baseball bats on Seacourt Road.
Section 60 Stop-and-Search Powers Activated
In response to the twin attacks, police have imposed a Section 60 order across parts of Thamesmead, Erith, and Abbey Wood. This gives officers the power to stop and search anyone without needing specific suspicion. The order kicked in at 1:30pm and will remain active until 10pm on March 14.
“A 17-year-old boy was found with stab wounds. He has been taken to hospital. His injuries have been assessed as non-life-threatening,” confirmed a Metropolitan Police spokesperson.
Authorities are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward and assist with their inquiry into the violent spate.
