Takeaway Worker Jailed for Brutal Bootle Knife Attack

An “irate” takeaway cook launched a vicious knife assault on a colleague after months of simmering tensions. Iman Sepahvand, 39, from Orrell Lane, was locked up for eight and a half years for stabbing a co-worker with a vegetable chopping knife. The violent episode unfolded at Toscana’s Pizza and Grill in Bootle.

Religious Feud Sparks Bloody Stabbing in Busy Kitchen

The stabbing happened on August 4, 2024, during a heated clash between Sepahvand and Mohammed Bakhshi at the Stanley Road eatery. Prosecutor Tom Challinor revealed the pair had a long-running feud rooted in religious differences.

“They did not get on,” Challinor told Liverpool Crown Court. “Sepahvand lost his temper and repeatedly stabbed Bakhshi in the chest with a chopping knife.”

Bakhshi managed to escape the kitchen but collapsed in the street, seriously wounded.

Fugitive Attacker Sentenced in Absence

Sepahvand skipped his trial, but judges pushed ahead and convicted him in his absence. The eight-and-a-half-year sentence sends a clear message about workplace violence in Bootle’s restaurant scene.

Police described the attack as a “disturbing and violent episode,” blaming months of hostility behind the scenes for the brutal hammer blow to community safety.
