Border Force Guns Down Deadly Weapons Smuggling at Dover

A Bristol woman has been locked up for nine years after Border Force busted her attempting to sneak military-grade weapons, ammo, and Class A drugs into the UK. The National Crime Agency (NCA) uncovered the deadly haul when 40-year-old Kasha Sanderson was stopped at Dover’s Eastern Docks.

Hidden Arsenal Stashed in Car Footwells

Sanderson was pulled over on February 24 last year as she rolled off a ferry from Calais, driving an Irish-registered Peugeot 3008. She claimed she’d been scattering ashes in Lyon, but Border Force officers soon uncovered 13 guns hidden in custom compartments in the car’s footwells.

  • Two Skorpion submachine guns
  • One Uzi
  • A Glock handgun
  • Nine converted blank-firing pistols
  • 289 rounds of ammunition
  • Plus 5kg of heroin worth around £500,000

She Thought It Was Just Cannabis – Guess Again!

Unemployed Sanderson was arrested on the spot. Shockingly, she told NCA officers she thought she was smuggling cannabis. She quickly confessed to smuggling firearms, ammo, and Class A drugs during questioning.

NCA Hails Border Force for Busting Dangerous Gun Haul

“Thanks to a brilliant detection by our Border Force partners and the NCA investigation, these terrifying weapons and ammunition are out of the hands of extremely dangerous criminals,” said NCA Branch Commander Rachel Bramley.

“Firearms crime in the UK is among the lowest in the world, but these guns had the potential to cause horrific damage. We’ve seen tragic consequences when innocent victims get caught in the crossfire of criminals wielding machine pistols like the Skorpion.”

“With Sanderson’s jailing, the organised crime group behind this smuggling plot have lost a trusted courier and resources they could’ve used for further offences.”
