A man has been charged after a gas service engineer was violently attacked with a metal pole in Warsop. The incident occurred at around 10.30am on 29 March 2023 on Sherwood Street, where the victim was assaulted and his van was also damaged during the attack.

Police later spotted a van driving erratically in Sycamore Street, Warsop, on 6 April at about 7.20pm. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver failed to comply, resulting in a brief high-speed police chase.

Officers arrested 22-year-old Connor Weeks of Friar Lane, Warsop. At the time of his arrest, Weeks was found to be in possession of cannabis.

Connor Weeks appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 8 April facing multiple charges including grievous bodily harm with intent, criminal damage, driving while disqualified, using a motor vehicle without insurance, dangerous driving, and possession of cannabis.

He was granted conditional bail and is scheduled to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 5 May 2023.

Detective Sergeant Matt Scott of Nottinghamshire Police commented on the case: “Officers have been working hard to investigate this assault which has understandably been an extremely upsetting ordeal for the victim. I am pleased we have charged a suspect and I hope it provides some reassurance to the community.”
