Cash Machine Heist Sparks Bomb Scare in Ashford!

Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate are hunting thieves after a daring raid on a Co-op cash machine at a supermarket in Kennington, Ashford.

Cash Machine Ripped from Shop Front

The brazen theft took place just after 4am on Thursday, 7 February 2019. Criminals forcibly removed the cash machine from the building on Faversham Road, smashing the shop front in the process. A stash of cash was stolen before the gang made their getaway.

Volkswagen Passat Found After Bomb Alert

Fast forward to 11.30pm the same day and cops swooped on a black Volkswagen Passat in Cryol Road. The Ministry of Defence’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was called in amid fears the vehicle could be booby-trapped.

Local residents were told to evacuate their homes as a precaution — but the all-clear came soon after, letting them return safely.
