Two Men Busted Over £2,100 Worth of Stolen Booze in Sussex
Sussex cops have charged two men caught red-handed with nicking a massive haul of booze from supermarkets across the region.
Grabbed at Asda After CCTV Tip-Off
On Saturday, February 8, Cezar Soare, 39, and Andrei Secere, 37, both with no fixed address, were stopped by security staff as they tried to sneak out of Asda in Hollingbury around 6pm. CCTV had already flagged the pair lurking suspiciously in the spirits aisle.
Police search nearby uncovered a car packed with £2,100 worth of stolen alcohol and other loot, many bottles still tagged with security labels — proof it was hot stock.
Linked to Multiple Thefts Across Sussex
Further enquiries tied Soare and Secere to a string of shoplifting and attempted thefts at Brighton Marina, Newhaven on the same day, plus an earlier hit in Chichester on November 28.
Charged and Remanded
Both men were charged on Sunday, February 9, and are set to face Brighton Magistrates’ Court. Soare faces:
- Five counts of shop theft
- Two counts of attempted theft
- Conspiring to steal
- Going equipped to steal
Secere’s charges include:
- Three counts of shop theft
- Two counts of attempted theft
- Conspiring to steal
- Going equipped to steal
They appeared before the court on Monday, February 10, and were remanded in custody. Their next hearing is on March 10.
Police Urge Vigilance
Sussex Police are warning shops and the public to stay alert to organised shoplifting gangs and report anything dodgy immediately.
