A teenage boy was left fighting for his life after a savage stabbing in Gateshead. Now, two men have been jailed for the vicious attack.

Teen Left Bleeding on Street After Brutal Stabbing

Just after 3pm on Saturday, March 8, 2025, panic erupted on Morris Street, Teams area, Gateshead. A passerby spotted a badly injured 19-year-old and raised the alarm. Emergency crews found the victim with multiple stab wounds, his life hanging by a thread. Rushed to hospital, he miraculously survived and was discharged days later.

Stabbing Scene Cleared Up – It Happened Elsewhere

Police initially cordoned off Morris Street, but soon discovered the stabbing actually took place outside Teams Social Club on Derwentwater Road. The victim was bizarrely moved to Morris Street on an electric bike after the attack.

Two Men Jailbound After Guilty Pleas

Despite the victim refusing to cooperate, Gateshead CID acted fast. They arrested two men, 18 and 23, on suspicion of attempted murder. A 22-year-old woman and two other men aged 19 and 21 were also detained but later released without charge.

Argenti Jahelezi, 19, from Balmlaw, Beacon Lough, and Lewis Thompson, 23, from Carnforth Gardens, Beacon Lough, faced Newcastle Crown Court on January 5, 2026. Both pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent, a lesser charge than attempted murder.

On March 12, each was sentenced to six years and four months behind bars.
