Two Charged Over Tragic Petts Wood Stabbing of Max Wheatley
Detectives have arrested and charged two men in connection with the heartbreaking murder of 22-year-old Max Moy Wheatley in Petts Wood.
Suspects in Custody – Court Date Set
- Billy Jay Benton, 18, from Bellingham, faces charges of murder and possession of an offensive weapon.
- Arvie-Ray Mehmet, 19, also from Bellingham, has been charged with murder.
Both were arrested on Friday, 29 September, and charged the following day. They are due before Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 2 October.
How the Tragedy Unfolded
Police were called just after 2:30pm on Wednesday, 20 September, following reports of a stabbing in Jubilee Country Park near Tent Peg Lane. Despite rushed efforts from paramedics and the Kent Air Ambulance, Max—who lived in the Orpington area—died at the scene.
A post-mortem confirmed he died from a stab wound to the heart.
