On May 3, police carried out a significant crackdown on drug supply networks in Reading and Swindon. Coordinated raids were executed simultaneously at Aldworth Close in Reading and Somerville Road in Swindon by Fortitude teams, supported by local Neighbourhood Policing units.

Two individuals were arrested during the operation. Katie Longmate, 37, from Aldworth Close, and Chakir Smith, 28, of Beaumont Road, face serious charges related to the supply of Class A drugs, specifically cocaine and heroin.

Following the arrests, Longmate appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court on May 4 where she pleaded guilty. She is currently in custody and is scheduled for sentencing at Swindon Crown Court on June 1. Smith has denied the charges and has been released on bail. He is required to attend Swindon Crown Court on June 1 for further proceedings.

The raids were prompted by intelligence regarding drug dealings supplying Class A drug users across Reading and Swindon, leading to this coordinated enforcement action.
