A violent thug who savagely attacked a woman in Trowbridge has been slammed with a two-year jail sentence.
Jason Povey’s Brutal Assault
Jason Povey, 36, homeless and dangerous, pleaded guilty to actual bodily harm after a terrifying attack on a woman he knew. It all kicked off on February 13 when Povey turned up uninvited at the victim’s home in Trowbridge.
When she ignored his knocking, Povey kicked down the garden fence. Worried he was drunk, the woman tried to drive him to a relative’s place. But behind the wheel, Povey launched a savage onslaught, punching her multiple times in the face.
Relentless and Ruthless
After she escaped the car, Povey kept up the brutal beating. The woman desperately tried to run, but Povey dragged her back and aimed a stamp at her head – luckily, she dodged. Undeterred, he kept landing punches to her face and body, leaving her with painful injuries.
Justice Hits Hard
At Swindon Crown Court on March 20, Povey was handed a tough two-year prison term. On top of that, he received a 10-year restraining order banning him anywhere near his victim.
“Povey is a coward who launched a violent attack, leaving the woman terrified for her life,” said local crime investigator Ben Hillier. “This level of violence is horrific and totally unacceptable. I welcome the custodial sentence and restraining order, which will hopefully help the victim move on.”
