Sussex Police have initiated a high-profile investigation into serious allegations of rape and sexual offences involving women and children. The probe began after a woman reported being raped in a hotel room in September of last year.
Shane ‘Blue’ Gibbs, aged 34 and with no fixed address, has been arrested in connection with the case. He faces numerous charges including rape, child abduction, intentional strangulation, multiple counts of sexual offences involving minors, assault, and drug possession with intent to supply.
Following additional allegations from victims familiar with Gibbs, detectives recently charged him with two further counts of rape at Hove Crown Court. Gibbs is currently in custody awaiting a trial scheduled for October 7.
Sussex Police are actively distributing his photograph and caution that Gibbs frequently uses aliases or conceals his identity. Authorities believe that members of the public may hold crucial information to assist in the investigation.
Detective Superintendent Ben Newman stated: “This is a wide-ranging investigation and we believe there are people we have not yet heard from who have vital information. If you have any information that could help, no matter how insignificant it may seem, please contact us online or via 101, quoting Operation Newbarn or serial 655 of 07/01.”
