Fugitive Bereke Russom Skips Court After Guilty Verdict
Bereke Russom, 32, has gone on the run after skipping the final day of his trial at Lewes Crown Court. Sussex Police are hunting the man who vanished just before a guilty verdict was handed down in his absence.
Attempted Rape Trial Over Brighton Beach Attack
Russom was charged with attempted rape and sexual assault by penetration, offences said to have occurred on Brighton beach on 27 August 2022. Despite attending the first two days, he failed to show up for the crucial final session.
Sentencing Set for February – But Russom Still Missing
Now a warrant has been issued for Russom’s arrest ahead of his sentencing on 25 February. Formerly from Cross Green, Leeds, he remains at large.
Sussex Police urge anyone with information on Russom’s whereabouts to come forward immediately.
