A man has died in Southsea, prompting police to arrest a local couple on suspicion of murder.

Emergency services were called at 2.44am on Tuesday 10 August after a man was found lying in the street. Paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service gave life-saving treatment before rushing him to Queen Alexandra Hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead.

A police spokeswoman confirmed: “A 33-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man, both from Southsea, were arrested on suspicion of murder.” Both have since been released on conditional bail as detectives continue a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
