On 30 June 2025, what seemed like a routine domestic call in Sidcup turned into a nightmare for two Met Police officers. A neighbour had reported a man assaulting his mother — but the violent chaos that followed shocked everyone.
Suspect Returns with Vicious Fury
PC Adrienne Parmenter and her partner arrived to find the suspect gone. Thinking danger had passed, they helped the victim gather her things. That’s when the man stormed back — shouting, swearing, and ordering officers away.
Parmenter later described him as “the biggest man I’ve ever seen” — terrifyingly strong and wild. She called for backup, but before it arrived, the suspect launched a savage attack.
Officers Brutally Beaten and Knocked Out
PC Parmenter was punched relentlessly in the face, suffering deep cuts before losing consciousness. While she lay helpless, the attacker kicked her repeatedly. Her partner was also brutally assaulted — knocked out cold and stamped on, with serious injuries.
Despite her wounds, Parmenter fought to protect her colleague but was struck down again. Within moments, both officers lay unconscious, victims of a ferocious assault.
Backup Saves the Day
PC Benjamin Gregory and PC Jake Lodge arrived amid the chaos and swiftly restrained the suspect. But danger wasn’t over. While Lodge secured the attacker, Gregory performed life-saving first aid on the injured officers. One wasn’t breathing properly — Gregory opened her airway and saved her life.
Gruesome Injuries and Long Recovery Ahead
- PC Parmenter suffered deep facial cuts, heavy bruising, and a torn rotator cuff that affected her movement.
- Her partner faced worse — eight days in a trauma ward and trauma-induced amnesia.
- Sgt Karen Cundy provided crucial support, caring for families and aiding recovery.
Justice Served: 12 Years Behind Bars
The attacker pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 12 years on 26 September 2025. The judge called it one of the most harrowing police assaults he had ever seen.
Eight months on, PC Parmenter is back on duty, determined not to let one violent thug stop her from doing what she loves.
Bravery Honoured at London Police Awards 2026
This savage attack underlines the daily dangers frontline officers face — unpredictable violence met with split-second courage. To recognise their heroism, PC Parmenter, PC Gregory, PC Lodge, and Sgt Cundy will be honoured at the London Police Bravery Awards 2026.
