A ruthless drugs gang in Sheffield has been locked up for decades after the cold-blooded shooting of 25-year-old Abdullah Hassan in 2023.

Sheffield Drugs Feud Ends in Murder

Last month, Sheffield Crown Court found Demi Dunford, Alex Taff, Andrew Horton, and Osai Williams guilty of murdering Abdullah Hassan. The fatal attack happened on April 9, 2023, at flats on Callow Drive, where paramedics arrived too late to save him.

Police confirmed Abdullah died from a single gunshot wound to the thigh. The shooting was the deadly climax of a vicious drug supply turf war between Dunford and Abdullah.

Planned Hit with a Cover-Up

Dunford masterminded the hit, recruiting Taff, Horton, and Williams to lure Abdullah out and gun him down. After the attack, the gang fled and tried to cover their tracks by cleaning their vehicles and moving locations. Even Andrew Horton’s sister, Emma Horton, got involved in the cover-up.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Knowles said: “This sentencing brings closure to our investigation and justice for Abdullah. Drugs fuel deadly crime and have no place in our communities. This sentence sends a clear warning to anyone involved in such offending.”

Long Prison Terms Handed Down

  • Osai Williams, 29, jailed for 32 years for murder, grievous bodily harm, multiple drug offences, and possession of an offensive weapon.
  • Demi Dunford, 29, sentenced to 31 years for murder, drug offences, and possessing a prohibited weapon.
  • Andrew Horton, 47, slapped with 28 years for murder, robbery, theft, fraud, and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
  • Alex Taff, 31, handed 27 years for murder.
  • Emma Horton, 38, received a 12-month suspended sentence for conspiracy to pervert justice.
