A 22-year-old man from near Rye has been jailed for five years after raping a woman who generously let him crash on her sofa.
Trust Shattered in Horrific Home Attack
Jordan Osbourne, 22, from Parkwood in Iden, was arrested in February 2022 following a chilling report from an 18-year-old woman. She had kindly let Osbourne stay at her home, but in the early hours of January 3, 2022, he followed her into her bedroom and brutally raped her.
Guilty Verdict at Brighton Crown Court
Thanks to the victim’s brave testimony, backed by specially trained officers, the case went to trial at Brighton Crown Court. On Friday, March 6, a jury found Osbourne guilty of rape. He was sentenced on March 20 at Hove Crown Court to five years behind bars and handed a 10-year restraining order to keep him away from his victim.
Police Hail Victim’s Bravery, Call for Others to Speak Out
“Jordan Osbourne’s victim trusted him and allowed him to sleep in her home. He betrayed that trust in the worst way,” said Detective Constable Cally Fox. “I recognise the courage it takes to report incidents like these and the trauma caused by sexual offending. I would like to thank the victim for her bravery throughout this process.”
“If you are a victim of sexual offending, please report it to police online or via 101. Always dial 999 in an emergency. We will support you and do all we can to get you justice.”
