Nottingham Rapist on the Run After Nine-Year Sentence
Aland Ahmed, 23, was handed a tough nine-year jail term for raping a 15-year-old girl in Nottingham. But there’s a catch — Ahmed isn’t locked up. He fled the country after being charged, forcing the courts to convict him in absentia.
Brutal Attack in Nottingham Flat
The horrifying assault took place in 2022. Ahmed dragged the teenage victim into a bedroom and violently sexually abused her. The girl had to relive the trauma twice — once during a video interview and again during the trial — even though Ahmed skipped every court appearance.
Judge Condemns Fugitive Defendant
“He was 19 at the time and is still only 23 now. The delay in this case is entirely down to him,” said Judge Steven Coupland. “He chose not to attend court, breached his bail and hasn’t been seen for some 21 months.”
The judge revealed Ahmed’s rampage only ended when someone else in the flat interrupted. The victim was found crying hysterically.
Lifetime Sex Offender Status and Police Hunt
Ahmed, from Highbury Road, was slapped with a lifetime spot on the sex offender register alongside his jail term. Meanwhile, police continue their manhunt. Anyone with info on Ahmed’s whereabouts is urged to come forward immediately.
