30-Year-Old Charged Over Spate of Early Morning Shop Burglaries

A man has been charged following a string of burglaries at shops across Southampton, Havant, and Emsworth.

Cash Till Stolen in Southampton Break-In

In the early hours between 3am and 4am, burglars struck the Co-Op store on Stoneham Way, smashing in to steal a till containing cash.

Cigarettes Targeted in Second Raid

Just days later, on Tuesday 15 August, the same chain’s Co-Op store on Southleigh Road was broken into shortly before 1am. This time, a haul of cigarettes was stolen.

Third Break-In Yields No Loot

On Wednesday 16 August at around 2:40am, the Booze ‘N’ More shop on Bedhampton Road in Havant was targeted. However, nothing was taken during this attempted burglary.

Man Charged and Remanded

Police have now charged 30-year-old Billy Collins, from the Southampton area and of no fixed address, with three offences of burglary other than dwelling with intent to steal.

Collins was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Southampton Magistrates Court on 23 August. He will later appear at Southampton Crown Court on 25 September.
