Police Cop Fired for Sharing Shocking Photos
PC Dickson has been sacked after admitting to four serious misconduct charges. A disciplinary panel ruled his actions caused “real harm and damage” to police trust and public confidence.
Mayonnaise Mess Used as a Mocking Joke
The hearing revealed Dickson attended a domestic violence call in October 2019. The abuser, armed with a knife, had poured mayonnaise and a fizzy drink over the victim’s head—and snapped a photo of the humiliating scene.
PC Dickson copied that photo as evidence but then took a picture of it on his own phone. He shared the image three times with a colleague, adding mocking messages like “Head full of mayo!” and “I’ll get this done to you ya muppet xxx”.
“I felt made a fool of and was disgusted and disappointed,” said the victim in her statement.
PC Dickson apologised but admitted he hadn’t thought about the impact on her. The panel said his behaviour caused “immediate harm” and warned such acts could deter domestic violence victims from speaking out, fearing officers might misuse sensitive photos.
Disturbing Dead Body Snapshots Found on Personal Phone
Shockingly, PC Dickson also kept photos of decomposing dead bodies on his personal phone. In June and July 2019, he obtained and took pictures himself at separate incidents. By December, he copied more images onto his phone under official pretences.
He claimed curiosity drove him to ask for these images to mentally prepare for future cases, and he shared some photos with colleagues to manage stress.
But the panel wasn’t convinced. They cited “morbid curiosity” and said he showed “casual disregard” for confidentiality and privacy. His misconduct was branded “extremely serious” with dismissal the “only proportionate response.”
