Shock has gripped the New Forest community after two 14-year-old boys from Fordingbridge were charged in connection with a horrific sexual assault at Fordingbridge Recreation Ground on Friday, 17 January.

The first boy faces multiple charges including rape, threats to kill, possession of a knife blade or sharp article in public, and kidnapping and false imprisonment with intent to commit a sexual offence. The second boy has been charged with rape, threats to kill, and kidnapping.

Both suspects are scheduled to appear at Southampton Youth Court this morning. Police were alerted at 10:41pm on Friday, although the assault is reported to have taken place earlier that evening.

In addition, a 13-year-old boy from Romsey was arrested in connection with the incident but has since been released on conditional bail while inquiries continue.

The 14-year-old victim is currently receiving specialist support from trained officers as detectives carry out a thorough investigation into the case.
