Mohammed Hamza, 22, from Vayner Drive in Middlesbrough, was caught running a Class A drug operation across the town. Hamza used a car to deliver drugs, collect cash, and conduct deals, sometimes sending others to carry out the transactions on his behalf.

On 24 May 2023, police stopped Hamza on Surrey Street, seizing cash and his mobile phone. He was arrested on suspicion of Class A drug supply and taken into custody.

Although Hamza was initially released after questioning, officers launched a deeper investigation. They examined his phone thoroughly and monitored his activities over several months.

On 11 December 2023, a member of the public spotted Hamza on Longford Street, Middlesbrough, openly exchanging drugs from the passenger side of his grey BMW. This tip-off prompted police to take action.

Police stopped Hamza’s BMW and arrested him. A large sum of money was found hidden in his chest pocket, and a strip search uncovered wraps of crack cocaine. Further searches of Hamza’s home revealed a sports bag in the attic containing over £30,000 in cash. Another £500 was found in the kitchen along with two burner phones used to arrange drug sales.

Following the arrest and the mounting evidence, Hamza was charged with conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and money laundering. On 29 June, he pleaded guilty at Teesside Magistrates Court.

Hamza was sentenced to four years and three months in prison, effectively ending his illegal drug operation in Middlesbrough.
