A 65-year-old man sparked alarm after calling 999 for assistance, only to threaten the paramedic who arrived with an imitation firearm. The incident took place in Rustington on May 5, 2024.

Clive Monamy, from Hide Gardens, Rustington, contacted emergency services citing mental health concerns and requested an ambulance. When a paramedic from the South East Coast Ambulance Service arrived at the scene, Monamy responded with aggressive verbal abuse and refused any medical treatment.

As the paramedic was preparing to leave, Monamy unexpectedly declared, “I have something for you.” He then produced a black handgun from beneath a pillow and pointed it directly at the paramedic’s face, creating a terrifying stand-off.

The situation was resolved when Monamy was arrested, ensuring the safety of emergency workers involved. Authorities confirmed that the gun was a replica and no one was physically harmed during the incident.
