Drug Addict Hurls Roof Tiles at Police in Bishop Auckland Stand-Off
Kyle Watson, 32, sparked chaos on December 23 last year after climbing onto a roof in Bishop Auckland and pelting police officers with roof tiles. The drug-addled thug turned a quiet street into a scene of mayhem.
Danger on Bridge Street
Watson, wanted for recall to prison, endangered both officers and nearby pedestrians, narrowly missing Christmas delivery drivers below. After hours of tense standoff, he ducked inside the house, planning to take more drugs – before cops finally arrested him.
The Charges and Verdict
- Criminal damage to police car window
- Causing public nuisance
- Possession of Class A and B drugs
Watson, hailing from Toronto, admitted all charges and was slammed with 15 months behind bars at Durham Crown Court.
Police Slam Reckless Roof Tile Attacker
“Watson’s actions that day were reckless and dangerous – it is only by sheer luck that nobody was injured,” said Detective Constable Joshua Chew of South Durham CID.
“He gave no thought to the safety of those in the street below and caused great distress and disruption to nearby residents. I hope he uses his time in prison to reflect on his actions.”
