Keighley Man Jailed for Seven Years Over Underage Sex
Shahzad Hussain, 27, from Browsholme Street, Keighley, has been locked up for seven years for grooming and having sex with a teenage girl he knew was underage. Bradford Crown Court slapped on an extra two years on licence, ruling he remains a serious threat to the public.
Sex Offender for Life with Tough Restrictions
Hussain must register as a sex offender for life and is hit with a 15-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order. The court revealed how he lied about his age, used social media to trick the girl into two meet-ups, and committed two counts of sexual assault.
Victim Faces Terrifying Fallout
The victim’s father spoke of the “devastating and ongoing” impact on his daughter, including shattered confidence, constant fear, panic attacks, anxiety, and sleepless nights.
Judge Calls Hussain “Deliberate and Dangerous”
Recorder Richard Paige slammed Hussain’s actions as deliberate and reckless. Despite warnings after his first offence, he carried on offending. The judge branded him a public danger and imposed the extended sentence to keep the community safe.
In mitigation, Hussain accepted the jury’s verdict and apologised. His barrister said he recognised the seriousness of his crimes and had a previously clean record.
