A man who stalked, terrorised, and brutally raped a woman in the dead of night has been locked up for seven years.

Stalker Strikes at 2.30am

Saurabh Talwar, 39, worked at an Indian restaurant near Norwich. Obsessed with a woman who made it clear she wasn’t interested, he showed up uninvited at her home at 2.30am on August 14, 2022, claiming he felt “lonely.”

Despite her rejection, the victim let him in, expecting him to leave quickly. Instead, Talwar ignored all pleas and stayed for hours, growing more aggressive while she remained trapped in her pyjamas.

Hours-Long Horror in Her Own Home

Talwar briefly left to buy drinks, then returned to a now-dressed victim trying to cover herself up. He forced himself on her, kissing her without consent and becoming “rather more rough.”

The court heard how he tried to rape her after touching her inappropriately. Ignoring her desperate cries for help, he continued the brutal assault that lasted for hours. When the victim finally fell asleep, Talwar got into her bed and raped her.

Victim Left Shattered and Living in Fear

“I was confident and outgoing before, but now I will never be the same person,” the victim said in a heartbreaking impact statement. “I blamed myself, hid what happened, and was scared the police would blame me.” She now suffers panic attacks and flashbacks, refusing to answer the door unless she’s expecting someone.

The terrifying trauma forced her to quit her job and flee Norwich. She continues to battle suicidal thoughts.

Justice Served – Deportation on the Horizon

Talwar denied the rape but was found guilty of rape, attempted rape, and assault by penetration after an eight-day trial at Norwich Crown Court.

Judge Andrew Shaw slammed the “predatory attack” that caused severe psychological and physical damage. Talwar, an Indian national living in the UK since 2007 and waiting on his residency status, faces automatic deportation after serving his sentence.
