Southend Man Locked Up for Sick Child Sex Crimes
Wayne Daykin, 26, from Queens Road, Southend, has been jailed for three years for vile child sex offences. The Basildon Crown Court handed down concurrent sentences for two counts of inciting a boy to engage in sexual activity, plus 12-month concurrent terms for assaulting a young girl by unwanted touching.
Twisted Crimes Exposed
Back in April 2019, Daykin tried to coerce a teenage boy into exposing himself. He also forcibly undressed and exposed a girl under the age of 10. Daykin’s sick actions shocked the local community.
Justice Served as Predator Faces Lifetime Restrictions
Daykin was arrested on 4 September 2019. Detective Constable Adam Clarke from the South Child Abuse Investigations Team praised the bravery of the victims. He said:
“Both children – a teenage boy and a girl aged under 10 – bravely spoke out against Daykin. I want to thank them for their courage and for assisting us in our investigations.”
“Daykin is a predator who made demands of vulnerable, young people, for his own sexual gratification. Thankfully, the victims quickly alerted their loved ones who called police.”
He added: “Daykin has been sent to prison for his actions and he has been made subject to a 10-year sexual harm protection order and placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life. These orders will restrict his activities and movements once he is released.”
