Knife Threat in Southampton: Man Attacked in Failed Robbery
Police are hunting witnesses after a man was attacked in a brazen attempted robbery in Southampton just before midnight on New Year’s Eve.
Between 1.45am and 2am on Saturday, December 31, a 30-year-old man was walking along 1 Bridge, Northam Road, towards The King Albert pub with a 23-year-old woman when he was confronted by a stranger.
Threatened with Knife, Man Injured
The suspect reportedly threatened the victim with what is believed to be a knife. A scuffle broke out, leaving the victim with a small arm injury before the attacker fled.
Suspects Described: Skinny Young Pair Seen Near Northam Estate
- Man: White, early 20s, around 5ft 8ins, skinny and gaunt, wearing a light, thigh-length puffa jacket.
- Woman: White, skinny, 5ft 6ins, dark hair, dressed in a black hooded top and skinny blue jeans.
The pair reportedly vanished towards Northam estate. Police urge anyone who saw them or noticed suspicious behaviour in the area at that time to come forward.
