A 25-year-old man is set to face court over a stabbing on Worthing’s seafront that has left the town on edge.
Stabbing Terror on Worthing’s Seafront
Emergency crews raced to The Esplanade at around 3.20pm on Thursday, 5 March, after reports of a stabbing. A local man in his 30s was attacked and rushed to hospital. He remains in a stable condition.
Clayton Ellis Busted for Wounding and Knife Possession
Police arrested 25-year-old Clayton Ellis, who has no fixed address. He’s charged with wounding with intent and possession of a bladed article in public. Ellis is due in Worthing Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 9 March.
One More Arrest, But No Further Suspects
A 31-year-old Worthing man was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. He has been released on bail while inquiries continue.
“Those involved are known to each other and I want to reassure the local community that we are not looking for anyone else in relation to this incident,” said Detective Constable Sophie Chaplain.
