Probation Officer Stabbed in Savage Attack at Preston Office

A probation officer was left fighting for her life after a brutal stabbing at a Preston probation office. The attacker, 35-year-old Ryan Gee, has now been slammed with a life sentence.

Knife and Replica Gun Used in Shocking Assault

On 22 July last year, Gee arrived for an appointment at The Pavilions probation office. Without warning, he brandished a large kitchen knife and a replica handgun, launching a savage attack on the female officer. She was stabbed multiple times in a chilling assault.

Despite her serious injuries, the officer managed to flee and was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery. Police were quick to respond, tasering Gee and arresting him at the scene.

Life Sentence: At Least 15 Years Behind Bars

Gee has been handed a life sentence, with a minimum term of 15 years and 193 days before he can even apply for parole. If he is ever released, he will remain on licence for life.

Calls Mount for Better Protection of Probation Staff

The shocking attack has turned the spotlight on the dangers probation officers face every day. These frontline workers regularly deal with violent and unpredictable offenders, often with minimal protection.

Campaigners are demanding safer workplaces, including secure offices fitted with protective glass like banks or post offices, to keep officers safe during appointments.
