Leicester Man Jailed for 5½ Years Over Teen Drug Slave Ring
A Leicester man has been locked up for 66 months after forcing teenagers to sell deadly drugs. Donnell Magezi, 25, used threats and intimidation to trap his victims into pushing class A substances across Leicestershire.
From London to Leicestershire: Setting Up a Drug Empire
Magezi, originally from London, travelled to Leicestershire to launch what police call the ‘Adam Line’, a drug operation running between West London and Loughborough. He targeted local teens, who were already involved in selling cannabis, to join his harsher class A drugs ring.
Violence, Threats and Forced Labour
- On 8 January 2022, Magezi’s gang kidnapped the teens in Charnwood, forced them into a car and threatened them while kneeling in seclusion on Loughborough outskirts.
- One victim was warned that his family could be harmed if they disobeyed.
- They were ordered to sell cocaine and other class A drugs under duress.
- Threats continued over the phone, with promises that London gangs would come to Leicestershire to hurt them and their families.
Police Move In After Victims Break Silence
Fearful for their safety, one victim confided in his parents who immediately alerted police. Magezi was arrested on 9 January 2022 and charged with forced labour, conspiracy to supply cocaine, and perverting the course of justice.
The latter charge stemmed from Magezi’s attempt to falsify a work letter to ease bail conditions, a ruse exposed by investigators.
He was sentenced on Friday 6 March at Leicester Crown Court after being found guilty on all counts in a November trial.
Leicestershire Police’s exploitation team praised the bravery of the victims and vowed to crack down on drug gangs exploiting young people.
