Two Leicester men have been found guilty of running a cannabis production ring and have been sentenced to significant prison terms. Ossama Omar, 38, of Staveley Road, was sentenced to seven years in prison. Mohamed Latif, 46, of Kitchener Road, received a five and a half year sentence after their trial at Leicester Crown Court on 18 April.
The crackdown extended to several others connected to the same operation, who were also handed prison sentences. Besmir Kortoci, 30, of Courtyard Close, Syston, was sentenced to nine years and nine months for cannabis production and five offences under the Identity Document Act. Wesley Moden, 41, of Park Road, Leicester, was jailed for five years. Gazmend Kortoci, 26, of Sheldon Street, Leicester, received a sentence of six years and nine months.
Earlier guilty pleas in September 2021 resulted in additional prison terms for members of the group. Alban Elezi, 29, with no fixed address, was sentenced to five years. Bekim Ahmataj, 30, of Shelford Walk, Leicester, received five years and seven months. Gramoz Imeraj, 32, no fixed address, was sentenced to four years and six months. Eneo Kortoci, 22, no fixed address, got five years and one month. Xhevahir Mici, 48, no fixed address, was sentenced to three years.
Further jail sentences were handed down in November 2021 following guilty pleas. Kevin Sinani, 33, no fixed address, was sentenced to three years, four months, and two weeks. Benet Kataroshi, 23, no fixed address, received five years and two months. Bekim Kataroshi, 27, no fixed address, was sentenced to four years, five months, and three weeks. Jetnor Sinani, 21, no fixed address, received four years and eight months.
Leicester Crown Court has imposed tough sentences on this cannabis network, demonstrating a firm stance against drug production and related offences in the region.
