In the early hours of August 20, Anthony Edmunds, Ben Emmott, and Craig Smith broke into a house and terrorised the children inside with knives. They made off with mobile phones and a games console, leaving the family traumatised.
Quick-Witted Kid Tracks Stolen Phone, Leads Police to Crooks
One of the frightened youngsters didn’t panic. Using ‘Find My iPhone’, she tracked down her stolen phone and alerted South Wales Police. Officers raced to Plymouth Wood Close, catching the trio minutes later.
Knives and Masks Discovered in Stolen Car
Police arrested Edmunds, Smith, and Emmott, discovering two knives and t-shirts used as masks in their vehicle. Charged with aggravated burglary, Edmunds and Smith immediately admitted guilt, while Emmott initially denied but later pleaded guilty.
Sentences Send Warning to South Wales Crooks
- Anthony Edmunds, 52, from Rumney, jailed for eight years plus 14 weeks consecutive for a suspended sentence.
- Ben Emmott, 33, of Caerau, handed nine years and four months behind bars.
- Craig Smith, 44, from Adamsdown, locked up for seven years and seven months.
