Willano Moore, 27, a drug dealer from Hornsey Street, Holloway, was caught red-handed selling narcotics in a children’s playground in Islington. His illegal activities sparked outrage among local residents until a quick-thinking police officer intervened and stopped him.

On August 31, 2020, police on patrol spotted Moore dealing drugs in Paradise Park, Islington. When approached by officers, Moore attempted to flee, leading to a frantic 200-metre foot chase. The chase ended in the playground of a nearby primary school where officers successfully apprehended him.

During a search of the area, officers found a burner phone that Moore had discarded into nearby bushes. Investigations revealed that the phone was linked to a drug line distributing crack cocaine and heroin, providing further evidence against Moore.

Moore later pleaded guilty at Snaresbrook Crown Court to charges including supplying crack cocaine and heroin, as well as possession of criminal property. Judge HHJ Sharkey indicated that a prison sentence is expected when Moore is sentenced on June 28.

Sergeant Will Smith praised the police officer involved, stating, “The officer’s bravery in chasing down Moore in a children’s playground was commendable. This arrest highlights law enforcement’s commitment to protecting our communities.”

Moore’s reckless drug dealing in a location frequented by children has been effectively stopped. Thanks to swift police action, a dangerous dealer is now off the streets, marking a positive outcome for Islington’s families and schools.
