Iran Fires Warning Shot at Trump: ‘Watch Your Back’
Iran’s top security chief Ali Larijani has fired a blistering warning at Donald Trump. After Trump threatened Tehran with “death, fire and fury,” Larijani shot back, calling the threats “empty.”
“Even those greater than you could not eliminate the Iranian nation. Take care of yourself so as not to be eliminated.”
Assassination Plot Against Trump Adds Fuel to the Fire
Tensions escalate as a foiled Iranian-linked assassination attempt on Trump has come to light. Pakistani national Asif Merchant, trained by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, was convicted of plotting to kill Trump during the 2024 election. The hit was said to be revenge for the killing of Iranian general Qasem Soleimani in 2020.
US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed the plot’s mastermind was taken out in recent strikes, underscoring the deadly seriousness of this showdown.
Trump Threatens Iran: Strait of Hormuz ‘Will Be Hit Twenty Times Harder’
Trump isn’t holding back. On Truth Social, he warned Iran that any attempt to block oil flow through the Strait of Hormuz — crucial for one-fifth of the world’s oil supply — would trigger a devastating US response.
“They will be hit TWENTY TIMES HARDER than they have been hit thus far,” Trump tweeted, slamming Iran’s appointment of Mojtaba Khamenei as “just more of the same.”
US Prepares Biggest Ever Strikes as Iran Stands Firm
Defence Secretary Hegseth promises Tuesday will bring the most intense US strikes on Iran yet, deploying more fighters, bombers, and intelligence assets. The US pressure seems to be working, with Iran firing its fewest missiles in a single day since the conflict began.
But Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi slammed the idea of fresh talks:
“After three rounds of negotiation… they decided to attack us. I don’t think talking to the Americans anymore would be on our agenda.”
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps also threatened to block all oil exports if US and Israeli attacks persist. Saudi Arabia’s oil giant has issued a dire warning of “catastrophe” if the Strait remains closed for more than a week.
