A Herne Bay crook has been slapped with a two-and-a-half-year jail sentence after trying to break into a woman’s home by smashing her window.
Quick-Thinking Police Nab Suspect Almost Immediately
Kent Police leapt into action at 11.30am on Monday, 12 January 2026, after a woman called 999 to report a man smashing her window and attempting a break-in.
Officers arrived within four minutes, but 61-year-old Clifford Airey from Canterbury had already fled the scene. Luckily, sharp-eyed locals helped point the police in the right direction, leading to a foot chase and swift arrest.
