A quiet day at Manor Heath Park, Halifax, took a disturbing turn on 28 August 2025 when two elderly residents were charged with serious assault offences.

Fyona Bairstow, aged 72, and Michael Bairstow, aged 77, both from Shelf, Halifax, have been formally charged with racially and religiously aggravated common assault.

In addition to this, Michael Bairstow faces an extra charge of assault by beating. These allegations have caused significant concern within the local community.

Police are continuing their investigation into the incident, which has shocked residents of Halifax and surrounding areas.
