Sussex Police have arrested four individuals in connection with a brutal assault that took place in Crawley, leaving a man severely injured.

The victim, a man in his 40s, was walking along Broadway in Crawley at approximately 9.30pm on Sunday, 20 September. He was suddenly confronted by a group of young adults who punched and kicked him, resulting in serious injuries. The man was rushed to hospital for urgent medical treatment.

Following the incident, four youths from Crawley were taken into custody. An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and has been released on police bail until 23 October. Another 18-year-old from Crawley was arrested for grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of cannabis; he is on bail until 22 October. A 17-year-old boy was also arrested for grievous bodily harm with intent and released on bail until 24 October. Additionally, a 19-year-old Crawley man was arrested for wounding with intent and is on bail until 22 October.

Sussex Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the attack or has any information that could assist the investigation to come forward. Witnesses can contact the police online or call 101, quoting Operation Burgate.
