Lauren Millington, 43, has been slammed with a hefty 3 years and 2 months behind bars for ripping off over £450,000 from a GP surgery where she once worked.

Fraud Uncovered at Bracknell Medical Practice

Millington, who worked at The Waterfield Practice in Bracknell from February 2021 to November 2024, pleaded guilty to two counts of fraud by abuse of position and one count of concealing criminal property. Her scheme saw her cunningly fiddle with banking details of genuine medical suppliers, rerouting payments straight into her own accounts. The fraud went undetected until the surgery flagged suspicious transactions, sparking a police probe. Between April 2021 and November 2024, a whopping £456,666 was siphoned off.

Accomplice Also Caught and Sentenced

Lauren wasn’t working alone. Roger Happe, 44, was caught benefiting from the stolen cash. He received a nine-month suspended sentence and 100 hours of community service after admitting to handling £25,190.57 of the ill-got gains. Both were arrested in January 2025 and charged later that year.

Police Warn Fraudsters: Justice Will Catch You

“This was a calculated and sustained fraud in which Lauren Millington abused positions of trust to divert substantial sums,” said Detective Constable Jagdip Sekhon. “Her accomplice, Roger Happe, helped conceal thousands in stolen funds.” “The fraud left the surgery short of essential funds to support its community. Fraud is not a victimless crime – we’re committed to chasing down those who exploit trust.”

Detective Inspector Duncan Wynn added: “Millington’s sentence reflects the seriousness of her crimes, abusing trust over years to cause huge damage to public finances. We hope this acts as a strong warning to fraudsters everywhere.”

This case proves no one is untouchable when it comes to ripping off public funds. The Waterfield Practice and Thames Valley Police say they’ll keep fighting to protect taxpayers and patients alike.
