Dad Jailed for Murder of Baby Darcy in Staffordshire Horror
A brutal case rocked Staffordshire as Sean Jefferson, 35, was found guilty of murdering his five-week-old daughter, baby Darcy. Her mother, Amy Leigh Clark, 34, was convicted of allowing the tragic death to happen.
Grim Stafford Crown Court Verdict After Shocking Abuse
After an eight-week trial, Jefferson was convicted of murder, causing or allowing the death of a child, plus two counts of grievous bodily harm with intent. Clark was guilty of causing or allowing baby Darcy’s death.
Both are from the West Midlands – Jefferson from Walsall and Clark from Lichfield.
Mother’s Day Nightmare in Burntwood
On Mother’s Day 2022, emergency services rushed to the Burntwood home where baby Darcy collapsed. Both parents were arrested the following day. Despite frantic hospital efforts, Darcy tragically died two days later.

“This verdict concludes a profoundly distressing case involving the murder of five-week-old Darcy,” said Detective Chief Inspector Ian Fitzgerald.
“Darcy was violently abused and murdered by her father. Her mother allowed her death. These were the people who should have loved and cared for her. It was despicable behaviour against a defenceless child.”

Sentencing for Sean Jefferson and Amy Leigh Clark is due in coming weeks at Stafford Crown Court.
