James Harrison, 53, the former Secretary of the West Mercia Police Federation from Droitwich, has been charged with 17 counts of fraud. The allegations concern the misuse of members’ funds during his time as Secretary and Treasurer of the police union.
The charges span an eight-year period from 2010 to 2018. It is claimed that Harrison mishandled union funds and improperly used hospitality benefits associated with the West Mercia Police Federation.
Harrison is scheduled to appear at Worcester Magistrates Court on Thursday, March 14, to respond to the serious charges against him. This case has brought attention to the financial management practices within the police union.
The situation has raised concerns among members and the public about the need for greater transparency and accountability in the handling of union funds. Calls for improved financial oversight within the West Mercia Police Federation have intensified as a result of the allegations.
