Ex-Cop Wissem Bonafia Jailed for Horrific Sex Crimes

Wissem Bonafia, once a special constable with Northamptonshire Police, has been slammed with a string of serious sex offences. The 48-year-old was hauled in back in 2020 after police caught wind of his links to illegal child images. A raid on his Barton Seagrave home uncovered a stash of electronic devices loaded with vile indecent photos and videos of girls aged from prepubescent to 17 — many reportedly taken by Bonafia himself.

Five Years of Sinister Abuse Uncovered

The shocking crimes spanned from 2014 to 2019. Bonafia faced a whopping 27 charges, including:

  • Six counts of raping a woman aged 16 or over
  • One count of assault by penetration
  • Multiple counts of assault causing actual bodily harm
  • Several counts of taking and making indecent photographs of children
  • Causing or inciting a girl aged 13-15 to engage in sexual activity
  • Sexual communication with a child
  • Perverting the course of justice

In February 2026, prosecutors slapped on extra charges — including another rape count and inciting a child to engage in non-sexual activity.

Guilty Pleas and Brutal Trial Verdict

Right from day one of the trial, Bonafia copped to six offences, like taking indecent photos and causing actual bodily harm. Over a tense two weeks, he admitted to four more assaults. Then on March 30, the jury found him guilty of 12 further charges. He was cleared of three rape counts, one sexual communication with a child, and one indecent photo offence.

Northamptonshire Police Move to Axe Former Officer

Bonafia quit his special constable role in November 2021 after his arrest. Northamptonshire Police swiftly held a gross misconduct hearing in February 2023, deciding he’d have been sacked without notice if still serving. This disturbing case exposes a jaw-dropping betrayal by a once-trusted officer, with justice finally caught up after years of investigation.
