Marcus Gunn, a 58-year-old emergency care assistant from Swerford, has been found guilty of sexual assault and assault by penetration at Oxford Crown Court. The verdict was delivered after a four-day trial that concluded last Friday.

The offence took place in December 2022 when Gunn was transporting a female patient in her fifties to hospital. The assault occurred inside the ambulance, representing a serious breach of trust towards the vulnerable victim.

Gunn was charged in May 2023. The crime has been described as a stark betrayal of the confidence placed in him during the hospital journey.

Detective Sergeant Victoria Griffiths from Banbury Police commended the victim for her bravery in coming forward. She stated, “We take these reports extremely seriously,” highlighting the police’s dedication to achieving justice for victims.

Marcus Gunn is scheduled to be sentenced at Oxford Crown Court on September 9th. The local community is awaiting the judge’s ruling on this distressing case.
