Eight motorists faced penalties at Bexleyheath Magistrates’ Court this May after being caught speeding, drink-driving, using mobile phones behind the wheel, and possessing drugs. The total fines, costs, and surcharges imposed on the group exceed £3,000, alongside driving bans, licence points, and vehicle forfeitures.
Several offenders were caught across South London and Kent. Shariff Mohammed, aged 53, from 123, was fined £1,070 and received six penalty points for using a handheld phone while driving a BMW on Redcar Street in June 2024.
Joseph Famurewa, 56, from West Kensington, was caught drink-driving with a breath alcohol level of 59mcg per 100ml on May 3, 2025, in Woolwich town centre. He was fined £701 and banned from driving for 15 months, with the possibility of a reduction if he completes a rehabilitation course.
Ben Wilders, 26, from Bexleyheath, was fined £365 for possession of cocaine and cannabis found in Crayford on May 19, 2025. The drugs were ordered to be destroyed.
Magistrates are taking a firm stance to keep roads safe by issuing fines, driving bans, and licence endorsements to deter dangerous driving and drug offences. The clear message from the court is that breaking the rules will result in financial penalties and loss of driving privileges.
