Junaid Walayat, 30, of Trimdon Avenue, Middlesbrough, has been sentenced to five years in prison following two separate drug busts. Police apprehended him twice carrying suspected Class A drugs during arrests in November 2024 and January 2026.
Officers from the Proactive Team observed Walayat allegedly dealing drugs and found crack cocaine and cocaine on his person. A subsequent search of his home revealed additional suspected crack cocaine hidden in garden boxes, with an estimated street value exceeding £1,300.
Authorities also seized a “burner phone” containing messages believed to be related to drug activity. At the time of his arrest, Walayat was found with over £540 in cash, and another £975 was discovered at his residence. He was charged with possession with intent to supply cocaine and crack cocaine, as well as possession of criminal property.
On March 30, 2026, Walayat was sentenced at Teesside Crown Court.
Inspector Darren Birkett of the Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Team said, “This is the second time that Junaid Walayat has been found in possession of Class A drugs. Let our message be clear; we won’t tolerate people dealing drugs on the streets of Middlesbrough and we are out there taking action.”
