Tragedy in Walthamstow: Teen Shot Dead, Another Injured
Detectives are hunting for witnesses after a 16-year-old boy was fatally shot in Walthamstow last week. Police were called to Markhouse Road, E17, at around 10pm on Monday, 2 April following reports of gunfire.
Two Boys Caught in Shooting Chaos
Officers and paramedics found two teenagers – aged 16 and 15 – injured at the scene. Both were rushed to an east London hospital. The 15-year-old suffered non-life-threatening wounds, but the 16-year-old boy, later named as Amaan Shakoor from Leyton, had been shot.
Victim Dies as Community Mourns
Amaan tragically died in hospital at 5:45pm on Tuesday, 3 April, with his family by his side. A post-mortem is planned. Specialist officers are supporting the victim’s family, who have urged respect for their privacy during this heartbreaking time.
Police Launch Major Investigation
Detective Chief Inspector Gary Holmes, leading the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command, described the killing as “a tragic murder” that has shaken the local community and London as a whole. He vowed to catch those responsible and urged anyone with information to come forward.
“Serious violence on London’s streets cannot be abided. We are working hard to piece together what happened and to bring those responsible to justice. I urge anyone who witnessed this attack or has details to contact us immediately.”
