Kane Tilney, 23, terrorised the streets of Darlington with reckless biking stunts, including riding on pavements, speeding along the wrong side of the road, and riding without a helmet.

His illegal behaviour was captured on video and posted on TikTok, which provided the police with clear evidence of his offences.

Tilney was arrested in February and faced nearly 20 charges. These included dangerous driving, driving without a licence, no insurance, not wearing a helmet, assaulting an emergency worker, and threatening and abusive behaviour.

On Friday, November 10, at Teesside Crown Court, Tilney pleaded guilty to the charges. He received a 12-month prison sentence, suspended for two years. Additionally, he was banned from driving for two years, ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work, and required to pay a £100 compensation fee.

Inspector Matt Plumb of the Darlington Neighbourhood Police Team commented, “Tilney is a prolific offender who has plagued the streets of Darlington with his dangerous and illegal riding. He clearly thought he was above the law by posting videos of his crimes on TikTok – but it led to his downfall.”

Inspector Plumb added, “PC Paul Foley worked tirelessly to gather the evidence needed to bring him to justice. We share the community’s frustration over bikers who ignore the law and put pedestrians and drivers at risk. This result shows we won’t tolerate this behaviour. If anyone spots nuisance bikers, get in touch – we will take action.”
