Shoppers faced panic at Bluewater Shopping Centre after a suspicious unattended package triggered a controlled explosion just before 9pm. The blast caused major disruption, forcing hundreds to flee the area.

Evacuation Chaos from M&S to Food Hall

The evacuation zone stretched from Marks and Spencer all the way to the food hall, with witnesses describing a tense atmosphere as emergency services swooped in. Bluewater officials moved swiftly, cordoning off the site while Kent Police launched an investigation.

“Following reports of an unattended package, we have cordoned off an area while police investigate. We are liaising with Kent Police,” a Bluewater spokesperson said.

This latest scare comes just a day after a fire tore through the Village section of the Greenhithe mall, between John Lewis and House of Fraser, adding to shopper nerves at the popular retail hub.
