Carlisle has been shaken after a woman was charged with two counts of attempted murder following a brutal stabbing attack that left two victims seriously injured. Jacqueline Mounsey, aged 53, appeared at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court on Saturday facing charges related to the violent incidents that occurred on June 10th.

The prosecution alleges that Mounsey attempted to kill a man and a young girl, both of whom were found with serious stab wounds to their necks. These shocking details were revealed by prosecutor Peter Conroy during the brief court hearing.

Mounsey, who resides in Whernside, Carlisle, confirmed her identity during a short exchange lasting approximately five minutes. She did not enter any plea at this stage. The case was adjourned to June 24th, when Mounsey will appear at Carlisle Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing.

No bail application was made, and as a result, Mounsey remains in custody while the investigation continues. The local community remains anxious as the case progresses to the next phase of the legal process.
