Chaos at Guys Marsh Prison as Naked Inmate Sets Fire on Roof
Emergency services were scrambled to Guys Marsh Prison in Dorset last night after a naked prisoner sparked a blaze in one of the accommodation blocks. The drama unfolded just after 5pm on Friday, triggering a major response.
Firefighters Battle Blaze at Prison Block
Twenty firefighters from Wiltshire and Dorset rushed to the scene to tackle the fire. The incident is currently under control, but remains ongoing. South West Ambulance Service and Wiltshire Police are also on site managing the situation.
Naked, Drunk Prisoner Causes Mayhem
The chaos was sparked when the naked, intoxicated inmate climbed onto the roof of a prison house block and deliberately set his clothes on fire. Police confirmed there have been no injuries to other prisoners so far. Only one accommodation block has been affected by the flames.
Serious Roof Damage Reported
The prisoner remains perched on the roof, which has suffered significant damage after tiles were removed during the incident. A Wiltshire & Dorset Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “A number of fire appliances are on site at the Guys Marsh location.” A prison source described the roof damage as “very badly damaged.”
